Crypto.com Secures Registration as Virtual Asset Service Provider with Spain’s Central Bank
Digital asset exchange platform Crypto.com has announced that it has successfully registered as a virtual asset service provider (VASP) with the central bank of Spain. The registration comes after a thorough compliance review, including compliance with the Anti-Money Laundering Directive (AMLD) and other financial crimes laws. This milestone allows Crypto.com to offer its comprehensive suite of products and services to users in Spain.
The Bank of Spain established a registry for crypto service providers in 2021, and since then, notable firms such as Binance, Bitstamp, and banking platform BVNK have also registered with the regulatory authority. With the finalization of the European Union’s Markets in Crypto Assets (MiCA) framework, regulators in member states like Spain will soon implement new standards and requirements in line with the framework.
Kris Marszalek, CEO of Crypto.com, expressed the company’s commitment to compliance and collaboration with regulators and public officials in promoting responsible advancement of crypto and blockchain technology. The VASP registration from the Bank of Spain serves as a testament to this dedication.
