According to local news source Yonhap, former exec Mr. Jeon South Korean cryptocurrency exchange Coinone who was suspected of accepting payments in exchange for listing particular coins has admitted to the allegations.
Coinone’s Former Exec Mr Jeon Acknowledges Bribery Charges
Mr. Jeon, a former director of listing for Coinone, was accused of receiving nearly 2 billion won ($1.51 million) in payment for listing digital assets like “Furiever Coin,” which was only available on the exchange and has since been connected to a kidnapping and murder investigation in Seoul’s Gangnam neighborhood. The listings are allegedly made possible by “Mr. Ko,” Jeon’s broker.
Lawyer’s Statements
The two’s attorney reportedly stated, “I admit the facts of the prosecution,” at a trial hearing on May 25.
In essence, the attorney said,
“We are acknowledging the prosecution’s facts. However, since we have not had a chance to review all of the evidence, we will present a final opinion after review.”
