Celebrating Enhanced Charitable Giving: PayPal and Meta Expand Partnership
At PayPal, their commitment lies in harnessing the potential of their technology and expansive reach to champion charitable causes and facilitate individuals in contributing to the charitable endeavors dear to their hearts. Today, they are thrilled to announce the extension of the partnership between PayPal Giving Fund and Meta, exclusively geared towards facilitating charitable donations on Facebook and Instagram within the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, and Canada.
Functioning as an IRS-registered 501(c)(3) public charity, PayPal Giving Fund’s central mission revolves around bolstering charitable organizations by empowering them to embrace novel avenues of receiving support. Through fundraisers and donation buttons on Facebook and Instagram, charities will have the opportunity to raise funds, with these contributions flowing through PayPal Giving Fund and subsequently being distributed to the benefiting charities, adhering to their established policies.
The collaborative effort between PayPal Giving Fund and Meta is poised to simplify the process for donors who wish to champion their preferred charitable causes in the online sphere. The trend of online charitable giving continues to surge in popularity, particularly among the younger demographic. According to the recent “Giving By Generation” report by Giving USA, a remarkable 81% of Millennials and 76% of Gen Z donors included in the survey engage in online or mobile-based donations, rendering this partnership a seamless and fitting development.
Previously, PayPal Giving Fund has received donations and distributed contributed funds to benefiting charities on Facebook in Australia, Canada, and the UK. Today’s announcement marks an expansion of this existing partnership with Meta, encompassing donations on Instagram through PayPal Giving Fund within these markets, while also facilitating all forms of charitable giving on both Facebook and Instagram within the US market.
PayPal Giving Fund, with a repository of over one million registered charities, stands as a conduit through which individuals can support their cherished charitable causes online. Donations are channeled to PayPal Giving Fund from donors using PayPal and trusted partner platforms, such as Meta. Subsequently, grants are disbursed to the charities recommended by the donors.
Charities enrolled in PayPal Giving Fund will experience swifter processing of donations made on Facebook and Instagram, coupled with increased visibility among millions of potential donors accessible via the PayPal website, app, and other PayPal Giving Fund affiliates. Furthermore, enrolled charities will receive comprehensive donation activity reports, while all donors will receive official donation receipts for their contributions.
Starting Oct. 31, PayPal Giving Fund will exclusively enable charitable giving on Facebook and Instagram in the US, UK, Australia and Canada. For more information on PayPal Giving Fund’s partnership with Meta, please click here
