Ethereum rollup tool Arbitrum’s Twitter account was closed on Monday. Offchain Labs co-founder Harry Kalodner accepted the suspension, but was unaware of Twitter’s reasons. Reportedly it was accidentally flagged as spam while being cleaned up by other offensive accounts, although the account was restored later.
Arbitrum’s Official Account was Temporarily Suspended by Twitter
Arbitrum is a Layer 2 (L2) scaling option for Ethereum. It processes off-chain transactions and only sends results to be recorded on the Ethereum main chain. This greatly reduces congestion and transaction fees on the main chain.
This pause had a huge impact on Аrbitrum’s price, which is currently down around 12%. Аrbitrum’s suspension comes less than a week after Аrbitrum launched its long-awaited new ARB governance token. However, the total value locked in the Аrbitrum is increased. This has also happened shortly after the system issued to early adopters its ARB token via an airdrop.
