One Victim Lost $24 Million in a Crypto-Phishing Scam
The most recent crypto phishing scam caused the tragic loss of millions for one cryptocurrency investor. In one of the biggest phishing attacks in recent memory, the victim furthermore lost a sizable number of staked Ethereum tokens. The attack was reported only a few hours ago, and the specifics are still sketchy. The victim appears to have lost stETH and rETH valued at $24.23 million as a result of the incident.
Same Address Rumored to be Involved in Other Scams
The whale lost 4,851 rETH and 9,579 stETH, according to PeckShield.
Scam Sniffer claims that by signing “increaseAllowance” transactions, the victim handed the con artist the token permissions. Furthermore, a number of crypto phishing websites were linked to the bad IP, which had already been identified. The attacker has reportedly already begun transferring the stolen money, according to PeckShield. For about 13,785 ETH (about $22.5 million) and 1.64 million DAI, they exchanged the rETH and stETH.
