In a post on X (formerly Twitter) dated December 19, CertiK notified OKX wallet users about the imperative need to update their iOS apps immediately. The security firm revealed that earlier in the month, they had identified and reported a severe Remote Code Execution (RCE) vulnerability in the OKX iOS App. This vulnerability had the potential to compromise sensitive data and cryptocurrency assets.

OKX responded to the issue by implementing a “relevant upgrade” on December 19 and advised users to migrate to iOS version 6.45.0. CertiK later confirmed that the security concern had been successfully addressed.

An Remote Code Execution (RCE) vulnerability, when exploited, allows an attacker to execute malicious code on an organization’s computers or network, potentially leading to stolen funds or data breaches.

The decentralized exchange of OKX, known as OKX DEX, fell victim to a $2.7 million hack on December 13, reportedly stemming from the leaked private key of the proxy admin owner.

On CoinGecko’s “trust score” leaderboard for cryptocurrency exchanges, OKX holds the 10th position with a score of 9/10. Notably, OKX expanded its services in Brazil in late November, introducing both trading and wallet services to the market.
