Crypto News – Just moments before losing $70,000 in digital assets to a hacker, a cryptocurrency trader on the Binance market recounted a concerning incident.
Loss of $70,000 After Attack Binance User Funds
Before losing money on Binance on February 29, a trader going by the handle DoomXBT created a post on X discussing odd events. The hacker tinkered with the account, placing trade orders and taking out loans before moving the cryptocurrency assets out of it.
Doom claimed to have heard abrupt sound alerts on their Binance account when orders were filled, which seemed to suggest that the account had been compromised. A variety of trades were made, and assets were exchanged for BNB tokens, even though there were no withdrawals.
Because two-factor authentication was enabled, the trader asserted that the account appeared secure. Nevertheless, the cryptocurrency user observed that certain loans were being handled within the account. The funds that were exchanged into BNB were removed after DoomXBT contacted Binance support.
Binance CEO Reached Out to Trader on the Issue
The trader conveyed his annoyance and displeasure with the way the Binance support person handled the situation. The trader received a response from Binance’s social media and community leads stating that the matter had already been raised and was being worked on.
In response to the post, Binance CEO Richard Teng stated that an investigation is currently being carried out by their security task force. The executive expressed regret and assured the user that they would keep them informed of any updates.
