Astar Network Introduces Smart Contracts 2.0

The WebAssembly (WASM) smart contracts from Astar Network will introduce on the mainnet on April 6 as part of the company’s Smart Contracts 2.0 initiative. EVM (Ethereum Virtual Machine) and WASM VM smart contracts will now be supported by Astar with this progress.

Astar Network Introduces Smart Contracts 2.0

Astar Network, a Polkadot Parachain, and the entire blockchain community will benefit greatly from this announcement. On the day of the launch, Astar will also organize a WASM Launch Day, a virtual celebration with the global Web3 community. The live panel discussion is open to interested developers, web3 fans, and anyone who is new to cryptocurrency.

Astar hopes to be the first Polkadot parachain to offer a robust WASM environment by supporting “Ink! smart contracts” with the help of Smart Contracts 2.0. Software developers will be able to build on Polkadot thanks to its cross-consensus messaging (XCM) and cross-virtual machine (XVM) capability.

About WASM

While the introduction of smart contracts by Ethereum gave rise to the Web3 revolution, Ethereum by itself cannot create the cutting-edge blockchain of the future. Any developing Layer-1 blockchain needs support for both the EVM and the WASM smart contract environments, and Astar provides that functionality.

Due to its compatibility with numerous widely used programming languages, including C/C++, GO, Java, and RUST, WASM VM enables new developers to start their Web3 adventure on Astar. Developers may create with the programming language they already know without having to learn a new one. Additionally, it enables the integration of a wide range of software development tools and resources with Astar technology.

About Virtual Meet-Up

Together with Parity, Phala, DIA, SubWallet, Brushfam, and Subsquid, Astar is also hosting a virtual meet-up. These infrastructure partners will lay the groundwork for the WASM environment that Astar will use. The opportunity to share information and experience will be provided for developers as they learn how to build promising multi-chain networks using Astar.
