The global chess authority wants to include its 500 million players on Web3 with Avalanche Integration.

The International Chess Federation (FIDE) recently announced a partnership with Avalanche blockchain with the aim of moving its competitions to the Web3 world.
According to the press release, the partnership will provide operational efficiencies for players and federations, such as on-chain broadcasts of tournament data and player rankings, and increase game integrity.
This integration brings Ava Labs, creators of the Avalanche blockchain’s configurations, and Core, a self-surveillance crypto wallet, sponsors at tournaments around the world, including the World Chess Championship and the Chess Olympiad.
Emil Sutovsky, FIDE CEO, said in a statement: “Chess is a unique sport and this cooperation will allow us to unify our community and strengthen the ties between players, clubs, federations and FIDE.”
The extent of the International Chess Federation’s integration with Web3 follows the gradual adoption of digital environments to the chess world. According to the data announced by the Federation, currently, more than 100 million people regularly play chess online. And more than 25 million virtual chess matches are played every day.
Especially recently, integrations from within many sectors have been increasing. Federations such as the International Chess Federation (FIDE) see the potential to expand their sports field within the sector. Last August, World Table Tennis (WTT) made a similar Web3 attempt.
