The group’s overall compensation now totals $16.4 million, exceeding the $11.2 million that was permitted as part of the restructuring process. Of the billed compensation, $8.9 million has already been paid by the creditors.
During this period, McDermott Will’s largest billing areas included planning and disclosing $1 million in billing for 970.9 hours of settlement work, which included speaking with debtors about sale options, meeting with potential buyers, and reviewing proposals that other stakeholders had objected to.
Kirkland & Ellis Law Firm Was Also Involved
According to a recent source, the Kirkland & Ellis law firm would charge Voyager Digital $1.1 million in legal fees for April as part of the company’s bankruptcy procedures. Among the cryptocurrency firms that the company represented in a Chapter 11 restructuring that took place during the 2022 bear market are Celsius and BlockFi.
