The Devconnect Istanbul Scholars Program, a groundbreaking project from the Ethereum Foundation designed to promote inclusion and diversity within the Ethereum community, has just been launched.
Devconnect Istanbul Scholars Program to be Launched by Ethereum Foundation for Talented Individuals
The announcement of the Devconnect Istanbul Scholars Program was made earlier today on Wu Blockchain’s official Twitter account.
Talented individuals from areas that are currently geographically and demographically underrepresented in the Ethereum ecosystem will get financial assistance through this program so they can attend Devconnect in Istanbul, which is slated for November of this year. However, on July 23, 2023, the program’s application cutoff date will expire. Therefore, applicants must complete their application by the deadline.
Details of the Scholars Program
The foundation encourages people from different cultures who share its values to apply for the program. The Ethereum community expects applicants to show a strong dedication to it as well as a commitment to its inclusiveness and teamwork values.
Financial assistance for travel, lodging, daily allowance, and visa applications will be provided to Devconnect scholars. For scholars to meet up, learn, and get ready for the best experience in Istanbul, there will also be online and offline gatherings.
What are the Application Criteria?
The application criteria for the program are as follows:
- We are looking for individuals with experience and/or knowledge in protocol development, web3 development, privacy, security, crypto economics, UX, and governance.
- Applicants must be a member of a community that is currently underrepresented in Ethereum. We define underrepresented communities in two main categories:
- Geographic: Applicants from countries that lack representation in Ethereum as well as applicants from Turkey and neighboring countries.
- Demographic: Applicants that represent a minority gender, ethnicity, or other demographic identity that is currently underrepresented in Ethereum.
- Individuals who are unable to attend Devconnect without financial support are eligible to apply.
- Applicants must be able to attend Devconnect from November 13-19, 2023.
- Applicants must be able to communicate in English.
- The program requires a time commitment of approximately two hours per week from September to November 2023.
- Strong preference will be given to applicants who are yet to attend a large Ethereum conference (500+ people).

What is Devconnect?
Last year, Devconnect, an Ethereum community meeting with a focus on independent events like seminars and open talks, was inaugurated. The first-ever Devconnect, which lasted for eight days and was held in Amsterdam, featured events, in-depth seminars, and informative speeches offered by members of the Ethereum community.
Basically, the eagerly awaited Devconnect conference brings together programmers, businesspeople, researchers, and Ethereum fans. In addition to acting as a hub for networking, cooperation, and knowledge sharing, it is essential for the Ethereum ecosystem’s expansion and innovation.
