Spencer Schiff, the son of Peter Schiff, warned his father’s followers not to click on the link in the tweet, as it is highly likely to be compromised.
Peter Schiff Twitter Account Hacked Days After His Bitcoin NFT Launch
The individual who gained unauthorized access to Peter Schiff’s Twitter account posted a tweet announcing the official launch of “Gold,” a cryptocurrency token designed to empower the Web3 community by bridging the realms of physical and digital currency.
This hacker also quoted a previous tweet from Schiff’s account, which criticized the US government’s decision to once again increase the debt limit, leading to inflation in the country. Peter Schiff is well-known for advocating gold and being critical of cryptocurrencies.
Interestingly, even before this hacking incident, Schiff had shown some acceptance of the underlying technology behind Bitcoin. He surprised the crypto community by announcing his NFT collection on Bitcoin Ordinals, although he continues to assert that Bitcoin holds no value.
In response to CZ’s tweet welcoming him to the Bitcoin community, Schiff clarified, “I haven’t converted.” He explained that the Ordinals contribute value to the artwork by facilitating the verification of authenticity. Moreover, if his belief about Bitcoin proves incorrect, the Ordinals themselves might possess additional value.
