Strategy’s Latest Bitcoin Purchase Marks Its Smallest Acquisition to Date

Strategy, the world’s largest publicly traded corporate Bitcoin holder, has announced its smallest Bitcoin purchase on record.

Strategy Acquires 130 BTC in Latest Purchase

On March 17, the company disclosed that it had acquired an additional 130 BTC for approximately $10.7 million in cash, at an average price of $82,981 per BTC. This latest purchase was funded through proceeds from the firm’s “STRK ATM” program, which aims to raise up to $21 billion in fresh capital to acquire more Bitcoin.

Strategy Nears 500,000 BTC Milestone

With this latest acquisition, Strategy and its subsidiaries now hold a total of 499,226 BTC, acquired at an aggregate cost of roughly $33.1 billion, with an average purchase price of $66,360 per BTC, including fees and expenses.

The company is now just 774 BTC away from reaching the significant milestone of 500,000 BTC in holdings.

Smallest Bitcoin Purchase in Company History

Despite BTC recent drop to multi-month lows below $80,000, Strategy’s latest acquisition stands out as its smallest-ever Bitcoin purchase since the firm first entered the market in August 2020 with a 21,454 BTC purchase for $250 million.

Previously, the company’s smallest recorded purchase was 169 BTC in August 2024. By comparison, Strategy has already acquired 51,656 BTC in seven separate transactions in 2025 alone.

Bitcoin Yield Falls Short of Target

According to Strategy’s official reports, the company’s BTC yield currently stands at 6.9%, significantly below its 15% target for 2025.

Strategy’s Latest Bitcoin Purchase Marks Its Smallest Acquisition To Date

While the firm continues to accumulate BTC, this notably smaller purchase raises questions about its near-term strategy, especially as it approaches the 500,000 BTC threshold.
