Michael Saylor: MicroStrategy Bitcoin Holdings Continue to Grow in 2025
The executive chairman and co-founder of MicroStrategy (MSTR), Michael Saylor, said on Monday that the company had added 2,530 Bitcoin to its ever-expanding holdings. Additionally, Saylor disclosed that it had a 74.3% yield in the 2024 fiscal year and a 0.32% yield in 2025 thus far.
The US SEC filing states that the Bitcoin purchases were made between January 6 and January 12, with proceeds received from the sale and issue of shares under the terms of the sales agreement. After recently acquiring 450,000 Bitcoin, MicroStrategy paid $28.2 billion for the cryptocurrency at an average price of $62,691 per unit.
MicroStrategy’s $243M Bitcoin Purchase Fails to Boost MSTR Stock
Despite MicroStrategy’s $243 million purchase of 2,530 Bitcoin, the price of MSTR‘s stock dropped more than 4% to $313.40 during Monday’s pre-market hours. The stock rose 7.99% last week after dropping 19% in a month, but traders remain skeptical of a further rise because of the uncertainty.
However, the most recent meltdown in the cryptocurrency market has caused investors to panic and sell off their Bitcoin holdings. Traders became more cautious as better-than-expected jobs data suggested a strong U.S. economy. A cautious stance is also influenced by concerns about inflationary tariffs under President-elect Donald Trump. Thus, the Federal Reserve has been given more flexibility to delay further rate cuts this year.
