Pump fun Faces Backlash Over Violent Livestream Content

Harmful Livestreams Trigger Community Concerns

On November 25, a user on X (formerly Twitter) named Beau, who manages safety for the Pudgy Penguins community, raised alarms over a disturbing incident during a livestream on Pump.fun. According to Beau, a user threatened to commit suicide unless their memecoin reached a certain market capitalization. Beau called on Pump.fun to immediately disable the livestream and provide support to the individual involved. He also urged the platform to shut down the livestream feature altogether, stating that the situation had already gotten out of control.

Other reports from the community have included allegations of users threatening violence during livestreams. One community member flagged an individual who reportedly fired a gun out of a window whenever their coin increased in value. Another disturbing claim involved a child who allegedly threatened to harm family members if their token did not meet a price target. Some users have gone as far as to label the platform’s livestream feature a pipeline of felonies. Many in the community have called for the platform to implement stronger moderation tools or disable livestreams until proper safeguards are in place.

Pump.fun’s Response to Criticism

In response to the growing criticism, Pump.fun’s pseudonymous leader, Alon, defended the platform’s moderation efforts. Alon acknowledged the community’s concerns but emphasized that the team is actively working to manage illicit content. According to Alon, Pump.fun has a large team of moderators who work around the clock to monitor images, videos, livestreams, and comments posted on the platform.

We have a large team of moderators working around the clock and an internal team of engineers working to help us manage the increasing scale of coins, streams, and comments, Alon explained. He further stated that moderation has always been a top priority for the platform and assured users that the team is actively addressing harmful content.
