FIFA and Mythical Games Announce Web3 Soccer Game FIFA Rivals for 2025

FIFA and Mythical Games have announced their partnership to develop a new mobile soccer game called FIFA Rivals, set to launch in the summer of 2025. The free-to-play game will be available on iOS and Android devices, offering players the opportunity to create and manage their own soccer clubs while competing in real-time matches.

FIFA Rivals to Feature Web3 and NFTs

Developed by Mythical Games, the studio behind NFL Rivals, FIFA Rivals will incorporate the Mythos blockchain, allowing players to collect and trade NFT player cards featuring both past and present soccer stars. The game’s platform will be built around optional NFTs, just like NFL Rivals, which uses Polkadot technology. John Linden, Mythical Games’ co-founder and CEO, emphasized that FIFA Rivals will also feature esports competitions for top players.

FIFA’s Continued Expansion into Web3 and NFTs

This partnership marks another step in FIFA’s exploration of the Web3 gaming space, following its 2022 collaboration with blockchain startups around the FIFA World Cup Qatar. FIFA has also launched the FIFA Collect NFT collectibles platform on Algorand and the Polygon Ethereum scaling network.
