Sui Blockchain Outage Resolved: Network Back to Full Operation
A two-hour downtime brought on by a flaw in the transaction scheduling algorithm of Mysten Labs’ Layer 1 blockchain Sui Network that resulted in validator crashes has been fixed. Decentralized apps (dApps) on the Sui blockchain were rendered inoperable during the network outage, which also stopped the creation of new blocks.
After the release of a patch (v1.37.4) to Mysten Validators, the outage that had caused the blockchain to halt was fixed. With the status page now showing that all systems are functioning, the team verified that the problem had been resolved and the network was back up.
SUI Token Drops 10% Amid Network Outage Caused by Scheduling Flaw
Blockchain outages can be caused by a number of things, including software flaws, node problems (entities that handle transactions), or 51% attacks. In this instance, the Sui team discovered a flaw in the scheduling mechanism that resulted in the failure and interrupted regular network operations.
The SUI token fell by almost 10% during the outage, trading at about $3.42. At this point, its market value is $10.12 billion. In terms of market capitalization, the token is placed fourteenth. Since the debut of the Sui mainnet in May 2023, this is the first significant validator-related problem. But earlier this month, there was another testnet-related problem, and in July 2024, there was an outage when public remote procedure call (RPC) nodes failed to process transactions.
