Multichain Access Simplified: Etherscan v2 API Integrates 50 Blockchain Networks

In an effort to make multichain development easier, blockchain explorer and analytics company Etherscan has released its v2 application programming interface (API) update. With just one API key, developers may access data from 50 blockchain networks that are compatible with Ethereum Virtual Machines (EVMs) using the beta version of Etherscan v2.

An API is a special code that is entered to verify a user’s identity; it serves as a digital ID badge that grants access to the services or information provided by the API. With Etherscan, API keys safeguard the user and the service by blocking unwanted access and allowing authorized users to access data and services.

The main upgrade from v1 to v2 is the simplification of Etherscan’s multichain data access strategy, which now provides a new API with a chainID option. With the use of this parameter, developers can specify the target blockchain in a single API, eliminating the need for multiple API keys and unique setups for every blockchain. Ethereum, BNB Smart Chain, Polygon, Arbitrum, and other network-specific testnets, including Sepolia and Goerli, are among the supported chains.

By creating a single administration point for blockchain data, Etherscan v2‘s unified API facilitates developers’ creation of applications across numerous chains. Existing applications and associated services won’t be disrupted by the single API key’s ability to save setup times, simplify code, and maintain backward compatibility with version 1. The unified API key of Etherscan v2 further enhances this network by moving toward multichain standardized and easily accessible blockchain data for both users and developers.
