Justin Sun Elected to Lead Liberland, Promises to Champion Libertarian Values
The tiny country of Liberland, which is located on the Croatian side of the Danube River, has elected Justin Sun, the creator of the TRON blockchain technology, to be its next prime minister. Liberland’s seven-member government, which is made up of seven lawmakers who each represent approximately 1,000 inhabitants, announced the results of its blockchain-based voting method on the state’s official website.
Vít Jedlička, a politician from the Czech Republic who founded Liberland in 2025, will be succeeded by Sun. “Just as Vatican City represents a central spiritual authority for Catholics, Liberland will be the heart of the libertarian movement,” he said when outlining his vision for the nation during his campaign. Furthermore, Sun possesses expertise in global governance. Between 2021 and 2023, he represented Grenada at the World Trade Organization. He intends to use this experience to demonstrate that small governments are effective not only in Liberland but also in other nations.
Justin Sun’s Leadership Aims to Boost Liberland’s International Recognition
The small-government philosophy drove the creation of Liberland. Supporting individual freedom, it is tax-free. Of its reserves, Bitcoin currently makes up 99%. The Liberland dollar token $LLD, which is traded on decentralized exchanges, is the state’s unique currency.
That being said, neither Serbia nor Croatia, Liberland’s neighbors, recognize it, and it is not recognized by any member of the UN. Famous libertarians like Argentinean president Javier Milei have come out in favor of it despite this. Under Sun’s direction, the state’s micronation profile is expected to rise, and nations such as Argentina and El Salvador are expected to recognize the state.
