South Korea NPS Leads the Tech Sector with Millions of Dollars in New Investments
The National Pension Service (NPS) of South Korea paid $33.75 million for 24,500 MicroStrategy shares, according to a document made on August 13 with the US Securities and Exchange Commission. According to the report, which includes information about its investments for the quarter that ended on June 30, it continues to own 229,807 shares of Coinbase, valued at over $51 million.
- Additionally, it has $61.5 million invested in Jack Dorsey’s Block, Inc., and $31.5 million invested in Roblox.
- With total assets of more than $777 billion (1 trillion won) as of the end of February, the National Pension Service is the largest investor in South Korea and the nation’s public pension.
MicroStrategy Breaks Record with 226,500 BTC: Bitcoin Tops Portfolio
As for MicroStrategy (MSTR), it has risen beyond $150 for the first time in almost 24 years and has gained 92.5% so far this year, according to Google Finance. Since August 2020, the business has been purchasing Bitcoin, and according to its earnings report from earlier this month, in the second quarter of 2024, it spent $805 million to buy 12,222 more Bitcoin.
- After purchasing another Bitcoin, MicroStrategy now has 226,500 BTC in total, valued at around $13.19 billion at the current price of Bitcoin.
- As a result, according to CoinGecko, MicroStrategy is now the publicly traded business with the greatest Bitcoin holdings, holding about 13 times as much as Marathon Digital, the biggest Bitcoin miner globally.
