Staked ADA Targeted in DDoS Attack, but Cardano Remains Unharmed

Crypto News- Late Tuesday, the Cardano blockchain faced a distributed denial of service (DDoS) attack aimed at stealing tokens staked on the network. Despite the attack, it was swiftly mitigated without causing any damage, allowing the network to continue operating normally.

Understanding the DDoS Attack

A DDoS attack is a common method used by attackers to flood a server or blockchain with excessive traffic, preventing users from accessing online services. In this case, the attacker attempted to overwhelm the Cardano network.

Details of the Attack

According to Fluid Token’s chief technology officer, @ElRaulito_cnft, the attack began at block 10,487,530. Each transaction executed 194 smart contracts, with the attacker spending 0.9 ADA per transaction to fill each block with multiple transactions, trying to stress the network.

Immediate Response and Mitigation

Philip Disarro, founder of Cardano development firm Anastasia, explained that the attack could be stopped by deregistering the stake credential used by the attacker. Following Disarro’s post on social media, the attack was halted shortly after.

A Swift Resolution

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) about the Recent DDoS Attack on Cardano

What is a DDoS attack?

A Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attack is a malicious attempt to disrupt the normal traffic of a targeted server, service, or network by overwhelming it with a flood of internet traffic. In this context, the attacker flooded the Cardano blockchain with spam transactions to try and prevent users from accessing its services.

How did the attack affect the Cardano network?

The attack did not affect the Cardano network’s operations. The network continued to function as usual, and no staked tokens were stolen. The response was swift, ensuring minimal disruption.
