StepN Launches StepN Go: New App and Token Bring Social Features to Move-to-Earn Game

StepN, a leading move-to-earn game built on the Solana blockchain, is expanding its horizons with the introduction of a new application and token. Nearly three years post-launch, the game is embracing a social dimension.

On May 23, FSL, the gaming and development studio behind StepN, announced the launch of StepN Go. This new social lifestyle app rewards users for their daily physical activities and social interactions.

StepN Go allows users to share their digital sneakers with friends and family who are new to the app, enabling them to split earnings. The app also introduces key social features such as adding friends, messaging, avatars, and more play options, all while allowing players to earn GMT rewards.

To support this new experience, StepN Go introduces a new token, the Go Gaming Token (GGT). Similar to StepN’s utility token, the Green Satoshi Token (GST), GGT can be earned through walking, jogging, and running with digital sneakers.

Launched in 2021, the original StepN app is one of the largest move-to-earn games globally and a pioneer in gamified Web3 fitness applications. The game operates on a dual-token system: GST, a utility token with unlimited supply, and the Green Metaverse Token (GMT), which serves as StepN’s governance token.

FSL co-founder Yawn Rong highlighted that the StepN community has long been requesting social features within the app. “We are thrilled to unveil these new features, which will drive StepN Go towards mainstream adoption. Along with the Haus Mechanism and Interactive Map, we plan to integrate player-versus-player elements within the app,” Rong stated.

After experiencing a significant downturn in 2022 and 2023, the GameFi industry—merging gaming and decentralized finance (DeFi)—is witnessing a resurgence, coinciding with a rise in crypto prices. The number of daily active wallets in GameFi has doubled over the past year.

StepN has also been active in collaborations, partnering with German athletic brand Adidas for a release of 1,000 Genesis Edition NFTs on Solana in April. Additionally, StepN announced an airdrop of 100 million FSL points, worth approximately $30 million, to reward its core players.
