Crypto News– Layer 2 network Optimism has announced its fourth airdrop, with a focus on rewarding web3 artists.
Over 10 Million OP Tokens, Valued at Nearly 41 Million Dollars, Distributed in Optimism’s Fourth Airdrop
In this latest airdrop, 10,343,757.81 OP tokens, valued at approximately $40.8 million, were distributed to 22,998 addresses, as detailed in an official release. Users have until February 13, 2025, to claim these tokens.
Optimism conveyed a message of appreciation to artists on the airdrop claim page, stating, “A great society needs artists. This airdrop is a token of gratitude to artists for their ability to bring creativity onto the blockchain. Your contributions are pivotal to the Optimism Collective.”
The fourth distribution of tokens
Users who produced NFT art on the Ethereum mainnet or Optimism’s Superchain between Jan. 10, 2023, and Jan. 10, 2024, were eligible for the fourth airdrop.
The airdrop rewarded NFT creators based on the gas spent by other users during the minting or trading of their NFTs. The popularity of the NFT project determined the extent of rewards for the creator. For instance, causing 1 ETH worth of gas on Optimism’s Superchain resulted in 5,000 OP, while the same gas spent on the Ethereum mainnet earned 50 OP. The maximum reward capped at 6,000 OP (approximately $23,640) per address.
Token allocations could be boosted by 50% or multiplied by 1.5 through bonus eligibility criteria. These criteria included creating an NFT contract before Jan. 10, 2023, having an NFT transferred after Nov. 11, 2023, being active on the Superchain since Nov. 11, 2023, or if collectors spent over 0.0005 ETH to transfer one of their NFTs since July 14, 2023. The extent of the increase depended on the number of qualifying bonus activities.
