The company that runs the cryptocurrency exchange based in Hong Kong, HashKey Group, announced on Tuesday that it has almost reached its fundraising goal of $100 million.
HashKey Becomes Crypto Unicorn by Completing $100 Million Funding Round
In August, HashKey made the announcement about the fundraising round, not long after receiving approval from Hong Kong‘s security regulator to provide retail cryptocurrency trading. The investors in the round were kept a secret by the company. Currently, the firm has a $1.2 billion post-raise valuation, making it a “unicorn.”
What Does It Mean for HashKey to be a Unicorn?
A privately held startup firm valued at more than $1 billion is referred to as a unicorn. In the venture capital business, it is often utilized. Given their rarity, unicorns call for creativity. Since unicorn investors are so large, they are typically venture capitalists or private investors, meaning the average investor cannot afford them.
