Celestia Mainnet Launch Tomorrow: TIA Airdrop and Exchange Listings Await
This launch date has been officially confirmed by a contributor associated with Celestia and aligns with the information found on the project’s GitHub repository, which designates October 31 as the mainnet release date. In addition to the mainnet launch, Celestia has reserved 60 million tokens for an airdrop, targeting Ethereum Layer 2 users, stakers on Cosmos Hub and Osmosis, as well as crypto developers. The snapshot for the airdrop was taken on January 1, 2023.
With the impending mainnet launch, a maximum of 1 billion tokens will be minted on the network, and the airdrop represents 6% of the total supply.
Celestia stands apart from conventional Layer 1 blockchains like Ethereum and Solana by adopting a modular network design that streamlines blockchain development for creators. Its architecture enables nodes to achieve transaction consensus across chains in parallel, executing off-chain transactions verified through a system of fraud and data availability proofs.
Notably, in October 2022, Celestia Labs successfully raised $55 million in funding, led by prominent investors Bain Capital and Polychain, valuing the project at over $1 billion.
