Trump-Branded Crypto Wallet Sparks Confusion as Trump Family Disavows Involvement

A recent announcement touting the launch of a Trump-branded crypto wallet has triggered widespread confusion and controversy, with multiple members of the Trump family publicly distancing themselves from the project.

On June 3, non-fungible token (NFT) marketplace Magic Eden and the team behind the “Official Trump” memecoin revealed plans for what they described as the “Official $TRUMP Wallet.” Promoted as a partnership with GetTrumpMemes.com, the wallet was billed as the endorsed digital asset hub of former President Donald Trump.

However, the announcement was quickly followed by denials from Trump family members. Donald Trump Jr. stated unequivocally that the Trump Organization had “zero involvement with this wallet product” and that he was unaware of its development. He added that the family’s own crypto venture, World Liberty Financial, is working on launching an official wallet independently.

Eric Trump echoed the disapproval, warning Magic Eden to “be extremely careful using our name in a project that has not been approved and is unknown to anyone in our organization.” Even Barron Trump, typically absent from public discourse, took to X (formerly Twitter) for the first time to assert the family had no ties to the wallet.

The situation has been labeled “absolute chaos” by crypto skeptic Molly White, who first reported the story. White suggested that the debacle reflects a broader breakdown in communication among the various Trump-linked crypto initiatives.

Despite the backlash, neither Magic Eden nor the Official Trump token team have issued a public response. The Trump Wallet’s official website still refers to the product as the “Official $TRUMP Wallet by President Trump,” with GetTrumpMemes.com and Magic Eden listed as launch partners.

Corporate documents reveal that GetTrumpMemes.com is operated by Fight Fight Fight LLC, a company co-owned by CIC Digital LLC — a firm affiliated with the Trump Organization. Together, the two entities reportedly hold a majority of the TRUMP token supply. Entrepreneur Bill Zanker, a key figure in Trump’s previous NFT and memecoin ventures, is also listed as a principal in the effort.

This is not the first instance of confusion surrounding Trump-branded crypto ventures. Trump Media and Technology Group, which operates the social media platform Truth Social, initially denied reports in May of a major crypto investment, only to later confirm a $2.5 billion capital raise, including $1.5 billion in equity and $1 billion in convertible bonds, earmarked for Bitcoin purchases.

As the crypto landscape continues to intersect with the Trump brand, the line between official endorsement and unauthorized projects appears increasingly blurred.
