Ripple’s David Schwartz Welcomes Solana’s XRP Integration
Ripple CTO David Schwartz has praised Solana’s integration of XRP, calling the move a positive development for the broader crypto ecosystem. In a new social media post, Schwartz said, “More XRP ecosystems is a good thing. Letting XRP operate in more environments builds utility, and the XRPL remains the anchor that makes it all work.”
wXRP Brings XRP to Solana’s Expanding DeFi Universe
The integration introduces wXRP, a wrapped version of XRP that allows holders to keep the same underlying asset while gaining full access to Solana’s decentralized finance (DeFi) ecosystem.
With wXRP, users will be able to:
- Lend XRP for yield,
- Provide liquidity in pools paired with SOL or stablecoins,
- Buy tokenized assets,
- And interact with Solana’s fast-growing DeFi protocols.
A key feature of the wrapped token is its redeemability: wXRP can be exchanged 1:1 for native XRP, ensuring holders retain complete control and face no risk of losing the underlying asset.
According to the announcement, wXRP will debut with more than $100 million in total value locked (TVL), marking a significant capital base at launch.
How Solana and the XRP Community Found Common Ground
Vibhu Norby of the Solana Foundation explained that this integration emerged from months of engaging directly with the XRP community. He described the process as eye-opening, noting that he met “OG devs, core community members, memelords, and the team at Ripple,” which led him to appreciate the “uniqueness of XRP as an asset, and its community.”
The collaboration signals a notable shift toward cooperation in an industry often defined by rivalry.

Bitwise CEO Hunter Horsley recently expressed a vision for the crypto sector where major ecosystems collaborate instead of competing — a trend that Solana and Ripple now appear to be embracing.
As wXRP’s launch brings two of crypto’s most passionate communities closer together, the move may represent a broader industry shift toward interoperability, utility, and shared innovation.
