TWD Empires Has Completed the Pre-Alpha Test

TWD Empires, a game inspired by The Walking Dead television series, opened its Pre-Alpha test game demo to users and successfully completed the 48-hour test phase.

Although the game version published during the testing process did not carry all the game features, thousands of users participated in the testing phase. With the release of the demo version of the game, the TWD Empires team described the server performance as good despite thousands of users flocking to it. TWD Empires Development Director Zach Paterson said:

They found the experience “fun”. A fun game is really, really hard to make and that means we have a super solid base that we can build our experience off of. This is the most validating part of the demo for me, and my favorite takeaway.

Due to the large number of players, the map seems to be too small for the players. In contrast, the TWD Empires team says that the released version is only 1 in 9 of the actual map and that there will be larger maps in future game tests. In addition, during the testing phase, it was seen that many players found the game content in the game, such as buildings, zone transitions and resource collection, to be complex.

Future Tests

We can say that the TWD Empires team has learned some lessons from the testing phase that took place. They are considering splitting the game into 81 regions in the upcoming testing phases. This will be 9 times the actual testing phase and only 10% of the targeted real market release. During future testing phases, players will see zombies change in appearance and exhibit more unpredictable movements. In addition, the team also plans to make the in-game systems more understandable.
