Telegram Introduces Privacy Feature Through Blockchain-Based Numbers

Telegram, a messaging application that is widely used by the crypto community, has introduced the Blockchain-based numbers feature.

About the New Feature

The popular messaging application Telegram has introduced blockchain-based anonym numbers, which are part of the 9.2 update. Thanks to this new update, users will now be able to register using blockchain-based anonymous numbers instead of a mobile phone number. Moreover, users will be able to hide their phone numbers from everyone, not just from people they have not registered with the service.

While the popularity of the instant chat service among users in the crypto industry is increasing, it will increase even more with this new update. Launched on December 6, this feature also allows users to set expiration dates for messages in new conversations.

Will be Sold in Fragment

The blockchain-powered anonymous numbers that users will need to access this service will be sold in the Fragment. Fragment is a decentralized auction platform created by Pavel Durov, the founder of Telegram. The messaging service’s open network token will be used for in-app purchases, while US users will not be able to use this service because Fragment does not provide services to the United States.

Telegram, which wants to evaluate this winter period of the crypto world, is also conducting other studies on the other hand. Our article, which we talked about in the past weeks that they will set up their decentralized tools , is a part of these studies.

About Telegram

Telegram is a multi-platform messaging service founded by Russian entrepreneur Pavel Durov. It was first made available on iOS and Android in late 2013 and currently has an estimated 550 million monthly users.

What makes the messaging service unique is its focus on privacy, encryption, and an open-source API. It has numerous unofficial customers that are compatible with the official Telegram applications and the web interface. It also allows multiple devices to use the same account (verified by SMS) and multiple accounts on the same device.

About Fragment

Fragment, a barter platform that can be used to buy and sell Telegram usernames, was launched at the end of October 2022. The main requirement of Fragment is that users have to use the cryptocurrency Toncoin.
