Elon Musk Resigns from DOGE: “Fixing Washington Is a Nightmare”

Elon Musk Resigns From Doge: &Quot;Fixing Washington Is A Nightmare&Quot;

Elon Musk announced his resignation as the White House’s government cost-cutting czar, acknowledging that his efforts to reduce federal jobs and programs were an uphill struggle. Since Musk was in charge of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) as a Special Government Employee, he was legally limited to a maximum of 130 days, which ended on May 30.

Musk thanked President Donald Trump for the chance to cut unnecessary spending in a tweet on May 29, confirming his departure. According to a White House official, his off-boarding will start tonight, according to Reuters. The federal bureaucratic issue is far worse than Musk anticipated, and it was, to put it mildly, a difficult fight to fix things in Washington, DC, he told The Washington Post for a May 27 report.

Musk Slams GOP’s Massive Tax Bill: “A Threat to Fiscal Stability!”

Musk expressed his disapproval of the multi-trillion-dollar tax relief bill that House Republicans adopted on May 22 in separate remarks to CBS. He asserted that it would worsen the fiscal deficit and jeopardize DOGE’s efforts. DOGE asserts that since Trump took office again on January 20, taxpayers have saved $175 billion. Several news sources, however, contest this statistic, claiming it is erroneous, exaggerated, and contains numerous mistakes.

Musk Admits Spending Too Much Time In Politics, Tesla Shares Rally

Musk, the CEO of EV manufacturer Tesla, acknowledged spending a little too much time in politics in an interview with Ars Technica on May 28. Some critics blame this for Tesla’s poor performance.

I think I probably did spend a bit too much time on politics,

Musk

He did clarify, though, that his tenure on DOGE was not as substantial as many had assumed, and he accused the media of exaggerating his role.

It’s not like I left the companies. It was just relative time allocation that probably was a little too high on the government side, and I’ve reduced that significantly in recent weeks.

Musk

Musk stated that he would be spending a lot less time on DOGE in May in Tesla’s first quarter report. In after-hours trading, Tesla (TSLA) shares increased by more than 5%, even though the firm reported an 80% decline in net income.
