Originally launched on Ethereum’s mainnet with NFT support, Planet-X has announced its transition to Ethereum’s layer-3 scaling network, Xai. Xai, which utilizes Arbitrum scaling technology, will support minting in-game items as NFTs. Additionally, the game will introduce a new token called Gallax (GLX) as part of its ecosystem.

Real-World Prizes and Game Mechanics

Planet-X players will compete to find two types of treasure chests: common yellow chests containing X-Tokens, the in-game currency, and rare red chests that offer both X-Tokens and instant prize wins. X-Tokens can be redeemed for prizes in the X-Vault, including a Tesla Cybertruck, a new Apple iPhone, or a MacBook. The game has already awarded $50,000 worth of prizes during its closed beta testing phase.

Developer Insights and Future Plans

James Ashton, Founder and CEO of Planet-X, stated, “Our team has been working hard on the game for four years to create a unique gaming experience which is not only fun but offers substantial real-world prizes as its core game loop.” As part of the Xai announcement, the developers will offer a Tesla Cybertruck as a prize in an upcoming in-game event. Players interested in winning real-world prizes will need to obtain a free “hunt pass,” available on a first-come, first-serve basis.
