Altseason Index Hits 76 as Altcoins Outperform Bitcoin Across the Board
Altseason – Crypto traders are reigniting talk of “altseason” this week as key market indicators signal the strongest momentum for altcoins in nearly a year.
Altcoin Season Indicators Surge
The altcoin season index readings from major platforms are painting a bullish picture. Both Blockchain Center and CoinGlass show the index at 76 out of 100, while CoinMarketCap’s indicator sits slightly lower at 67. Despite minor differences, all three are now at their highest levels since December 2024, sparking excitement among traders.
According to Blockchain Center’s criteria, altseason officially begins when 75% of the top 50 crypto assets outperform Bitcoin over a 90-day period. This phenomenon typically occurs during bull markets, when altcoins rally harder than the world’s largest cryptocurrency.
While identifying the exact timing of altseason has always been tricky, recent signals suggest the market may be on the verge of such a phase.
Traders Anticipate a Breakout
Market participants are now closely watching total altcoin market capitalization, which is inching toward a major milestone. On Wednesday, prominent trader Daan Crypto Trades noted that the altcoin market cap was approaching its 2021 all-time high.
“Once we do see the altcoin market as a whole back in price discovery, I expect that to kick off some wider excitement and risk on for alts,” he commented, adding that such a move could attract new participants into the crypto market.
Echoing this sentiment, crypto educator Karan Singh Arora observed that with the altseason index at its strongest reading in nine months, traders are beginning to lean “risk-on” again.
At present, the total altcoin market cap (excluding Bitcoin and stablecoins) sits at $1.63 trillion, according to TradingView data. This figure is near the 2025 highs and just shy of the $1.64 trillion peak from November 2024. Before that, the record stood at $1.7 trillion in November 2021, the height of the last major cycle.
Adding to the optimism, crypto analyst Ash Crypto declared that “altcoins are about to go parabolic for phase 3 of altseason.”
Today’s Top Altcoin Performers
The upbeat sentiment is being reinforced by strong gains across several leading tokens.
- Dogecoin (DOGE) climbed over 5%, reclaiming the $0.25 mark.
- Avalanche (AVAX) surged nearly 11%, reaching $29, its highest level since January.
- Hyperliquid (HYPE), Stellar (XLM) at $0.3946, Litecoin (LTC) at $116.83, and Toncoin (TON) at $3.20 all posted gains of more than 3% over the past 24 hours.
These performances highlight the renewed appetite for altcoins, with traders increasingly looking beyond Bitcoin for opportunities.

The renewed hype underscores a pivotal moment for the crypto market. If altcoins continue their upward momentum and market capitalization surpasses previous highs, it could mark the true beginning of altseason—a period often characterized by rapid gains and heightened speculation.
However, traders remain cautious, aware that market conditions can shift quickly. The balance between Bitcoin dominance and altcoin strength will likely determine whether this trend evolves into a full-fledged altseason or remains another short-lived rally.
