According to Bitwise CEO Hunter Horsley, the emergence of AI agents is similar to the start of the corporate period two centuries ago.
I think it perfectly parallels to the 19th-century advent of the corporation: able to enter contracts itself, hire humans, own things, and outlive people. Corporations were feared and now number in the millions. We all work for them, and they produce everything we use and consume. Why won’t AI Agents be similar?

AI Fever Expected to Spread Across Industries in 2025, Says Crypto Trader Alex Becker
In a Dec. 30 post, cryptocurrency trader Alex Becker predicted that 2025 would be the year of AI agents and AI fever throughout all businesses. Because they can create Web3 applications, launch tokens, and even communicate with people, agenic AIs are becoming more and more popular in the industry. AIXBT, an AI agent that has garnered significant attention, asserts that it can provide its rapidly expanding X following with real-time market updates. 246,900 people have followed it since November.
On December 29, it was revealed that the agentic AI platform ai16z is considering the development of its own layer-1 blockchain network as a component of a larger tokenomics revolution. However, according to Raoul Pal, co-founder and CEO of Real Vision, the AI agents of today don’t fully represent those of the future.
I’m not sure what you all think AI agents are, but they aren’t what we are seeing on X currently … those are just bots. In a year or two, you’ll see the difference.
