In a groundbreaking move, Telegram, the popular messaging app, has opened the doors for its merchants to accept cryptocurrency payments. This has been made possible by Wallet, a service provider built on The Open Network (TON) blockchain.
Telegram Merchants Accept Crypto Payments!
Wallet, which already enables crypto transfers between users in chats, has now extended its services to allow merchants to integrate cryptocurrency into their payment bots. This means that merchants can now accept payments for goods and services in tether (USDT), bitcoin (BTC), and toncoin (TON).
Crypto Payments Made Easy
Previously, merchants had to rely on DIY solutions, which were often primitive bots linked to cryptocurrency payment systems. However, with WalletPay, merchants can now accept cryptocurrency payments seamlessly within the Telegram app. This includes features such as making payments directly within chats.
Telegram’s Crypto Journey
Telegram’s journey with cryptocurrency dates back to the development of the TON blockchain project. Despite legal battles with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) leading to the abandonment of the project in 2020, the TON community kept the project alive and continued to advance it.
